During March-April this year, Rae Bolotin lived and worked in Bei Gao artists district of Beijing, as part of her residency with the
Red Gate Gallery.
 The result of this experience is a new body of work where Rae has introduced new materials into her artistic practice and combined them with ancient Chinese metal crafting techniques.

  • Sculpture by the Sea, Bondi,
    October - November 2004

Rae Bolotin's sculpture Apple Totem was selected for the Sculpture by the Sea exhibition that was staged along the coastal walk from Bondi to Tamarama. Sculpture by the Sea featured 112 artists selected from over 600 submissions from 30 different countries.

Rae also had 2 works in the Sculpture Inside exhibition staged at the Bondi Pavilion in parallel with Sculpture by the Sea

 

 

  • New works, New thoughts, Concrete Meanings,  
    October 2004

Solo exhibition by Rae Bolotin was held in The Sculpture LabPublic talks during the exhibition were given by Michael Hedger (curator, author of Public Sculpture in Australia), Michael Snape (Sculptor), Tim Barnes (Director, Balcony Gardens); Stella Downer interviewed Rae Bolotin.

Carved Dance - cross art performance was staged during the Concrete Meanings exhibition.It looked into the relationship between a sculptor and a medium.

  • Sculpture in the Vines 2, Hunter Valley,
    March - May 2004

Two of Rae Bolotin's sculptures took part in Sculpture in the Vines exhibition in Hunter Valley: Peeled Apple was displayed in Tallavera Grove (Mount View Road) and Apple Totem was exhibited in Stonehurst Cedar Creek (Wollombi Road)

In the article This is a bust (SMH, Metro, January 23-29, 2004) Dominique Angeloro wrote: "Rae Bolotin's concrete sculptures Peeled Apple 2 and 3 at Stella Downer Fine Art are also in a state of material undress. Long pieces of red peel curl down the side of a plinth as if the apples have been caught in mid striptease".

Rae Bolotin's 1.8m high concrete sculpture Refugee took part in Sculpture from the Sea travelling exhibition around regional galleries.



  • Sculpture in the Vines, Hunter Valley, NSW,
    March - April 2003

Refugee took part in Sculpture in the Vines, 8th Hunter Valley Harvest Festival. It was placed in Cedar Creek Winery for the period of two months. This exhibition had been curated by Stella Downer.

Refugee at Martin Place
  • The Sculpture in the City, Martin Place,
    September 2002

Refugee was installed on Martin Place, Sydney from 16th till 28th of September 2002 as a part of the Sculpture in the City exhibition curated by Stella Downer. Estimated 100 000 people a week passed through.

Memory of Uzbekistan was exhibited in 6" Miniature Sculpture Show in Defiance Gallery Sydney and was acquired to be a part of the Lady Ethel Nock Sculpture Collection
